In this gripping suspense novel by Edwin Hill, ‘Who To Believe’ winds through the complicated relationships of seven close friends in a sleepy New England town, just one week after the murder of a local restaurant owner, Laurel Thibodeau. They gather one evening to celebrate a birthday that ends in the death of the town psychiatrist and leaves the rest of the group scrambling for answers. Unfortunately, everyone has something to hide and no one wants their secrets revealed. Who can be trusted? Who will go to any length to keep their past behind them? Who do you believe?
I absolutely enjoyed this one from start to finish. I read the entire book in one day, I just couldn’t put it down! I had to know what happened next. I love how the book is split into parts that are viewpoints from each character in the story, ending perfectly with the sweet little dog that everyone probably forgot about! Each twist is mind blowing and you never see it coming. The only thing I have a quarrel with is the end when we find out exactly what happened that night, I’m having a super hard time believing that ANYONE would just be out for a walk during a raging thunder storm, let alone getting a second person just be like “cool, let’s do it, that’s not weird”. Chasing a dog, helping a friend, retrieving stolen property, B&E.. sure. All believable. But the excuse the killer gives for leading the victim away from the house just does NOT track. Other than that, I loved it.
Also shout-out to Kensington, this one had very little in the way of errors, in fact only two that I recorded. This is the first title I have read by this author and will definitely be looking for more! Recommended for fans of Riley Sager, Lucy Foley, Liane Moriarity and Alice Feeney. This one will have you calling in to work so you can find out Who To Believe. <!> An enormous Thank You to Edwin Hill, Kensington Publishers, and Goodreads for allowing me the opportunity to read this title in exchange for my honest review. <!>
