When true crime author Amanda Bailey gets the opportunity to write a book regarding an eighteen year old case of cult suicide & sacrifice, she doesn’t hesitate to take it. The Alperton Angels is a cult who brainwashed a young girl into believing her baby was the antichrist, until the girl came to her senses, saved the baby and the cult leaders took their own lives. Or did they? After taking the job and starting her research, she finds she is not the only author writing about the case. Oliver Menzies, a rival author who Amanda briefly attended school with, is also working the case. And from the same angle. They decide to collaborate and what they uncover goes far deeper than anyone could have imagined.

I have to admit I was skeptical as to whether or not I would like the writing style. In the end, I didn’t mind it at all. Lots of information to keep track of but not difficult to follow or keep straight. The twists and turns were well placed and kept me needing to read the next page, the next transcript, the next key piece of information. Even the end was well done and kept me guessing until the last few pages. I read it cover to cover, the Murderino in me couldn’t put it down. I just had to know what happened to that damn baby! It had that element of knowing it was fiction but the believability made it that much more enjoyable. This is my first novel by Janice and she can certainly count me as a fan.
